Land of the Purple Heather

Description

View of Forsinard during a works visit in July 2021. Forsinard is a hamlet in the county of Sutherland in the Highland area of Scotland. It is located on the A897 road in Strath Halladale. It is served by a railway station on the Far North Line. The local hotel closed several years ago, but there is now a b&b just across the level crossing. They used to get a lot of snow up here and one time during the war, the Forsinard Hotel was snowed in and food was running out so the RAF flew food parcels up in Lysander aircraft and the hotel was 'bombed' with food packages.
